Headshot FAQs

What is a headshot?

A headshot is just a photo of you! It’s typically tight on just your face, which is the most expressive part of our bodies. In a digital world, a headshot is the first impression you send.

Who needs a headshot?

Anybody who wants to portray themselves as knowledgable or approachable. Anybody who represents the company they run or work for. Anybody with a public-facing job. Anyone looking for a job. If you are still reading, then probably you.

What is an environmental portrait?

An environmental portrait is one that portrays the subject in their natural habitat. Think of a basketball player photographed on the hardwood, a CEO in the boardroom, or doctor in an exam room.

Environmental portraits are fantastic for editorial purposes, websites, and many other uses. We excel at them!

What does a headshot cost?

An individual headshot done at our studio is $150 for the session plus $40 for each high-resolution, retouched photo we provide. We offer other services such as coming to your location and group rates.

we have several people we want to get headshots of. Do you offer group rates?

Absolutely! Check out our pricing page. We can either have your people come to us or we can come to you.

where will the session take place?

Most individuals who want a a headshot come to our studio, located in Studio 108 at 5701 S. 108th St. in Omaha. For environmental portraits or groups we can discuss if it would be better for us to come to you.

Will you retouch my headshot?

Absolutely! We will remove most skin blemishes and soften wrinkles and bags under eyes for the final image.

The vast majority of retouching work we do is included at the standard costs.

can you make me look younger?

Yes! And make it look like you got 12 hours of sleep! We make you look your best!

can you take 10 pounds off?

We use in-camera techniques such as posing and lighting to showcase your best look and alleviate things like double chins. Usually we don’t use heavy-handed Photoshop tricks to drop even more pounds unless you expressly ask us to, in which case—we sure can!

I wear glasses. Will that be a problem?

You might have experienced issues with other photographers having glare issues when they take your picture. We can usually finesse our way around this problem using proper angles with our lights.

So typically not a problem with us.

However sometimes people come with some of the craziest most glaring reflective glasses we’ve seen…and on a rare occasion we might have to pull off retouching miracles and charge an additional $25 retouching expense.

What should I wear?

We’ve had people wear a shirt and tie on top and board shorts and flip flops down below. You should wear whatever you think is appropriate for the audience you are wanting communicate with. Typically people in finance dress in business formal. Creative types are generally more relaxed and expressive about what they wear. Bold colors or patterns may distract. Textures are always nice. For a typical headshot, you only need to be concerned from the chest-up. For an environmental portrait you want to be ready from head-to-toe.

What if I'm not photogenic?

You are your own worst critic. I think you’re beautiful!

Will you direct me?

Absolutely! Try to come with your guard down and be prepared to tell me a joke. I’ll do the rest.
